🐾 Hadi J. | Veterinary Technician
Hadi started volunteering at our clinic in November 2020, and has now joined our team as our veterinary technician. He studied veterinary medicine in Iran and is working on completing his veterinary examinations in Canada, so that he can be licensed to work as a veterinarian. He had his own small animal veterinary clinic in Iran (Flamingo Veterinary Clinic) where he practiced for 9 years before coming to Canada. He loves animals of all kinds, and they often have a sense of calmness when he is around them. At the clinic, he enjoys helping with surgeries, ultrasounds, and running our in-house lab analyzers.
His hobbies include running, swimming, and listening to music as well as reading books (including medical textbooks!).
🐾 Melanie P. | Veterinary Receptionist & Technician
Melanie has been at our clinic for the past three years, and she loves seeing our regular patients as well as meeting new ones! She is always ready to greet her furry friends at the door, and only wants the best for their health and their lives. She completed her Veterinary Assistant program at Durham College, and acts as both our receptionist and veterinary technician – a master of all trades! She has a very handsome Maine Coon mix cat named Moby at home (whose adventures you can follow on instagram @mobyroxthecat) and loves him despite any mischief he gets into 😉
In her spare time, Melanie loves craft projects and spending time at her cottage with her family.
🐾 Vicky Huang | Veterinary Receptionist
Vicky first came into our clinic as a volunteer in 2017, when she was looking for experience before going to vet school. She holds her undergraduate degree from the University of Guelph in Biomedical Sciences and minored in Nutrition in Nutraceutical Sciences. During the last year of her undergrad, she realized that she wanted to pursue other goals; since then, she has completed a Certificate in Knowledge Mobilization and is currently doing her Masters in the Management of Sustainable Development Goals. However, her love for animals has not left her, and she enjoys making all the furry friends at the clinic. She’s always wanted a dog, and loves that she can live vicariously through her work. She has a pet bunny at home named Haku, which means “white” in Japanese although he is a black lop. She loves helping animals and connecting with people, so don’t hesitate to ask her about anything next time you see her – especially if it’s on sustainability! 🌱
Outside her work, she loves playing and writing music, dabbling at art projects, and making various types of creative content 🙂 In fact, she just started her art page where she draws animal comics, @wildheart.land!
🐾 Mia A. | Veterinary Receptionist
Mia joined our team in 2020 and loves the energy at the clinic. She is a great multitasker, and can be seen answering your calls, emails and in-person questions – always with a smile 🙂 She has two dogs at home, Kiko and Chloe, whom she simultaneously refers to as “queens” as well as her sons.
Outside the clinic, she has a passion for playing the piano, and studied at Laurier and York University for Music. During her free time, she loves catching up on her favourite movies and shows (her favourite Disney movie is Tangled) and discovering new rabbit holes on Youtube.
🐾 Brinn H-S. | Veterinary Receptionist
Brinn joined our staff team in 2020 as a veterinary receptionist, and is learning many technician skills here as well. She is an aspiring veterinarian with a passion for animals, and is currently studying Bioveterinary Sciences at Dalhousie University with the goal of completing her DVM at the University of Guelph. Brinn’s ultimate goal is opening her own veterinary clinic and rescue, where she can help animals of all kinds get healthy and find homes.
Outside the clinic, Brinn loves to play and listen to music, be creative, and spend time with the animals in her life. Brinn’s dog Zeus is her ray of sunshine, and a total fur baby with plenty of personality. You can follow along with his adventures on Instagram @zeustheeskie!
